Dr George Vlahos is Adelaide born and bred. He studied at Seacombe High School and completed his medical degree at Adelaide University in 1993, spending his resident years at Flinders Medical Centre. Dr Vlahos was a former registrar with Moana Medical Centre and returned to commence practising here in 1995. Since that time, he has seen significant changes occur within the style of medicine and local health. He has interests in care of the older person, complex care, palliative care and mental health.
He is a mad keen soccer enthusiast and a passionate supporter of Arsenal in the English Premier Football League. The main highlight of an overseas trip was visiting their home ground and attending a match with his children. He has also been known to cook a mean spit charcoal BBQ.
Interests include antenatal share care, women’s health, preventative health, and emotional and physical wellbeing.
Dr Josie Stachyra completed her internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, graduating her BMBS in 1983 at Flinders Medical Centre. She carried out her residency in the Family Medicine Program at the Repatriation Hospital and also in ED at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital, now known as the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
She began practising in the south in 1986 before commencing at Moana Medical Centre in 2002. Josie provides a vast and varied range of general practice and encourages healthy lifestyles.
She also enjoys a good walk and loves living in the beautiful South of Adelaide.
Interests include diabetes, many aspects of general medicine (eg cardiac care, high blood pressure, assessing cardiovascular risk) and paediatrics.
Paul grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. He attended medical school in Dunedin, before completing his medical degree in Wellington. Following graduation he worked in various places in New Zealand, before spending four years in England and Scotland, where he gained further experience in general medicine, paediatrics and emergency medicine. He then returned to New Zealand where he undertook formal general practice training, before moving to South Australia in 1998. He has been at Moana Medical Centre since 2006.
He holds a particular interest in the management of diabetes but enjoys all aspects of general medicine, including cardiac care, blood pressure management and cardiovascular risk assessment. He also enjoys paediatrics and completed a Diploma in Child Health while working in the UK.
Paul enjoys running, and tramping – he’d love to do the Heysen Trail one day. He’s also very keen on cricket and rugby and will forever be a supporter of the Black Caps and the All Blacks!

After gaining her Higher School Certificate at Sydney Girls High School, Remi completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of New South Wales in 2018. She then went on to do her Internship and Residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Since that time, she has completed additional training to be awarded the Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Sydney Child Health Program.
We welcome Remi to our team at Moana Medical Centre as she continues her RACGP Fellowship registration journey. Together with all aspects of general practice, she has a particular interest in women’s and children’s health. She is available for appointments Monday to Friday.
Having moved to Adelaide with her partner Max in 2022, Remi enjoys exploring the beaches and campgrounds of South Australia with Max and their Border Collie pup, Ruby. She also enjoys participating in AFLW matches and played in a 2016 Premiership winning team.
Interests include general medicine, women’s health, paediatrics and dermatology.
Shelley grew up on a yacht in New Zealand and studied molecular biology at the University of Auckland, before moving to Australia and completing her medical degree at the University of Sydney. After working at Prince of Wales Hospital and living in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, she was lured south by her Adelaidean partner and commenced her general practice training in 2022. She is excited to be continuing her training at Moana Medical Centre and is interested in all areas of general practice, with a focus on patient-centred care and preventative health. She is also interested in furthering her skills in dermatology, paediatrics, and women’s health.
Outside of work Shelley enjoys travel and the outdoors, and is kept busy with her two young children. She embraces the challenge of keeping her garden alive in the Adelaide sun, and in 2024, she hopes to find the time to learn to play the piano and discover the surf at Moana beach.

Nimaya commenced her schooling in Sri Lanka and, after moving to Australia in 2004, she completed her senior schooling in Adelaide at Seymour College. She then went on to complete her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2020. Since that time, she has been completing her Medical Internship and Residency at the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals. She commenced her General Practitioner Registrar Training at Moana Medical Centre in 2022 and we welcome her back to continue her GP Registration journey.
She has a particular interest in general medicine, women’s health and holistic healthcare, together with all aspects of general practice. She enjoys a good movie, day trips and occasional tennis, swimming, cooking up a storm for dinner and dallies with the occasional musical instrument.
Nimaya is available for appointments Monday, and Wednesday to Friday.
We utilise our friendly nursing staff in a variety of ways to benefit your health care, as they work side by side with our doctors. From vaccinating babies through to helping to manage complex medical conditions, our nursing staff will treat you with kindness as they go about their work.
Naomi has a wealth of General Practice Management experience and has worked in General Practice since 1989, taking on a Practice Management role in 2001. She has completed a Diploma of Management and loves spending time with her family, tending to her garden and relaxing with her fishing rod.
Sue began in General Practice in 1996 working a variety of roles from reception, administration to coordinating chronic disease management and health assessments. She enjoys walking, reading, catching up with friends and spending time with family.
Our reception staff aim to make you feel welcome and will do their best to accommodate your wishes and needs wherever they are able, in a warm and empathetic manner.
